ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR AGRILINK
2009
Metro Manila and its neighboring
provinces are back to business-as-usual.
Local government units are busy putting their
respective cities back to normal operations despite
the typhoon’s aftermath.
Thanks to the Department of Interior and Local
Government (DILG) and MMDA (Metro Manila Development
Authority), all major roads and highways in Mega
Manila are currently accessible.
Most private companies across the National Capital
Region—hotels, restaurants, malls, airlines,
tourist facilities—are open and operational.
Those still displaced by floods caused by tropical
storm Ondoy (international code name Ketsana)
are now at over 200 evacuation centers, assisted
by numerous charitable institutions and corporations
that have generously lent a helping hand.
In lieu of these developments, Foundation for
Resource Linkage and Development (FRLD), the organizer
of the annual event Agrilink, Foodlink and Aqualink,
is pleased to announce that the country’s
biggest agri and aqua trade show will go on, as
slated on October 8 to 10 at the World Trade Center,
Pasay City.
“We echo the assessment of the Philippine
Chamber of Commerce and Industry that while Ondoy
will impact on the economy for a while, the Philippines
can still maintain its 1.9 percent growth target
this year. We are grateful to note that the damages
to agri sectors will only be a temporary setback,”
said FRLD president Antonio V. Roces.
On October 8 to 10, FRLD will stage the Philippines’
most influential trade fair on agriculture, food
and aquaculture—Agrilink, Foodlink and Aqualink—which
will underscore the benefits of focusing on micro-enterprises
through its theme, “Sustainable Food Production:
Focus on the Filipino Market.”
The three-day event will highlight the most up-to-date
and ground-breaking inputs, technologies and alliances,
which can enhance the profitability of the interdependent
industries of agriculture, food and aquaculture.
